What is APN?

Assessor Parcel Number (APN) is a unique number assigned to each plot of land by a county tax assessor. The APN is based on formatting codes depending on the home's location. The local government uses APNs to identify and keep track of land ownership for property tax purposes.

APN is always public information and can be found by going to the local county assessor's office website and search for the property address. There you can see information regarding lot size, home type, view information, property tax history, and the sale price history.

Depending on the County, APN can be also known as Property Identification Number (PIN), Property Folio Number (Folio), Property Account Number or Tax Account Number.

APNs are unique within the county, but the same cannot be said at the State or National levels, as they do repeat across county lines and states lines.
