A BPO is report to estimate the market value of a real estate property, similar to a CMA ( Comparable Market Analysis)  performed by a  Real Estate Broker.
Usually is used by financial institutions like banks, investment companies, etc., and lawyers to establish the value when in need of portfolio price, due diligence, estate settlement,  and loan origination permitted by FIRREA (under $250,000)Internal non-lending purposes, HELOC (under $250,000 per FIRREA), Private Mortgage Insurance – PMI removal.
Real Estate Broker may prepare, provide and collect a fee for issuing a BPO.
